Abstract: 
This position paper, adopted by the Ontario Public Health Association, examines the negative health effects of mercury consumption, the positive effects of fish consumption, trends in fish consumption and availability, evidence of population health risk, lack of public awareness of risk, environmental trends with respect to mercury consumption and the need for clear, updated guidelines and advocacy on this issue.
