Description:

Are exposures to toxic chemicals in the womb and during early childhood putting Canadians at greater risk for chronic disease later in life?

Come hear a 90-minute briefing on the latest scientific evidence linking early environmental exposures with the development of major chronic diseases, including asthma, diabetes/obesity, cardiovascular disease, neurodegenerative diseases, and cancer.

Participants will learn about the highlights of a major new report, Early Exposures to Hazardous Chemicals/Pollutants and Associations with Chronic Disease: A Scoping Review, published by the Canadian Environmental Law Association, the Ontario College of Family Physicians and the Environmental Health Institute of Canada. It was prepared through a multi-year collaboration between the Canadian Partnership for Children’s Health and Environment (CPCHE) and the Ontario Chronic Disease Prevention Alliance (OCDPA), with support from the Ontario Trillium Foundation.

The briefing will take place from 3:00-4:30 pm on Thursday, March 1st, following the Best Start Resource Centre Annual Conference at the Hilton Suites Toronto/Markham Conference Centre. The briefing is being offered by CPCHE in collaboration with Health Nexus/Best Start. CPCHE gratefully acknowledges the generous support of Health Canada for this information session.
